Enrolling Now: What to Know About Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy

As Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy prepares to open for Fall 2023 in South Carolina’s Grand Strand, here is everything you need to know about this tuition-free public charter high school.

No. 1: What is Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy?

Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy (CSAA) is an accredited, free public charter high school with the South Carolina Public Charter School District. CSAA helps students earn their South Carolina high school diploma with flexible scheduling options. 

As part of the Acceleration Academies family, the research-based, nationally accredited program is run by experienced educators and offers a blended learning model featuring personalized learning plans, web-based curriculum and career/life coaching.

No. 2: Where is Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy located?

Renovations are underway at our spot conveniently located in The Galleria at 9564 N. Kings Hwy. in Myrtle Beach, SC. Graduation Candidates (GCs) — that’s what we call our students, by the way — will enjoy a fresh space which features an on-site cafe and a large open work area that allows them to complete coursework comfortably, ask questions as needed and work together with peers.

No. 3: Who is the program for? 

Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy serves high school students in Horry and surrounding counties who are on a South Carolina high school diploma track. Students may apply when they have successfully and academically been promoted to 9th grade, and they can apply and remain enrolled until their 21st birthday.

CSAA also serves: 

• Students who would benefit from personalized support and flexible scheduling. We work to build a customized schedule to guide you on your pathway to a high school diploma.
• Students who need to finish high school graduation requirements and would benefit from focusing on one class at a time.  
• Students looking for an accelerated high school experience to graduate early.

No. 4: How can I apply or get more information? 

Students and their families who are interested in learning more about Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy can visit the CSAA website. There, you can fill out an interest form and our team will deliver details directly to your inbox.

The Acceleration Academies enrollment team also hosts monthly virtual information sessions. These are a great opportunity to meet some of the Acceleration Academies staff members, find out next steps to enroll and get answers to questions on the spot. Registration for a virtual info session is easy (start here!), and it’s not a problem if you sign up and end up having to miss it! We’ll send you a link to watch the recording after the session.

No. 5: What are the attendance requirements?

Unlike traditional high school, students at Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy will enjoy flexible scheduling that allows them to customize their attendance around their life. Our hybrid model and web-based curriculum means that students can split their time between on-site and remote learning. Students must attend in person at least 12 hours per week and are expected to complete 24 hours online each week. 

No. 6: When will it open? 

The first day of school for Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy will be Tuesday, Sept. 12. Enrolled GCs will be invited to attend orientation and launch events starting the last week in August until the first day of school.
