Bethel Acceleration Academies in Spanaway, Wash., has been recognized as part of the 2026 Washington School Recognition Program, earning a place among the top-performing schools in Washington state.
The academy was recognized for ranking in the top 10% statewide for growth in Graduation Rates and Dual Credit Completion among Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, English Language Learner, and low-income students during the 2024-25 school year.
The recognition is part of a broader achievement for the Bethel School District, which led Pierce County with nine schools honored through the statewide program.
“This recognition reflects the determination of our students and the dedication of the educators, families, and staff who support them every day,” said Kevin Torres, academy director. “At Bethel Acceleration Academies, we believe every student deserves a pathway to success, and this achievement shows what’s possible when students are given flexible, personalized support.”
Operated by the State Board of Education in collaboration with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee, the Washington School Recognition Program celebrates schools demonstrating exceptional progress in key areas of student success such as growth, closing gaps, and achievement. Schools recognized in the growth category have student groups performing among the highest in the state on key measures.
For Bethel Acceleration Academies, the recognition represents more than academic data. It reflects the students who overcome obstacles, balance responsibilities outside of school, and continue to work toward graduation and future opportunities.
Through flexible scheduling, personalized learning, and strong relationship-based support, Bethel Acceleration Academies provides an alternative high school pathway that helps students stay connected to their education and reach important milestones on their path to a diploma.
The academy’s recognition reinforces the impact of creating learning environments where students feel supported, seen, and empowered to succeed.
