When family, friends and educators gathered to celebrate the latest class of graduates from Sarasota Acceleration Academies, which has campuses in Sarasota and North Port, Florida, the Suncoast News Network (SNN-TV) was there to chronicle the achievement.
“A Sarasota high school celebrated a new class of graduates today,” said reporter Kristi Sultan. She explained that Sarasota Acceleration Academies offers young people who have struggled in traditional schools a personalized path to the diploma they might have thought out of reach.
“Some of the students experienced obstacles while attending traditional schools, especially during the pandemic,” she said. “The program offers flexibility that traditional schools may not have. The amount of time it takes to graduate depends on each student.”
Students — who are called “graduation candidates” to remind them of their goals — take one course at a time, are able to build their study schedules around work and family obligations, and can take advantage of personalized coaching on campus and working remotely.
