Beginning January 1, 2025, the State of South Carolina's Department of Education has imposed a ban against use of cell phones/personal electronic devices — including smart watches, tablets, gaming devices, wired or wireless accessories or wearable technology that connects to a device — while a student is on school premises.
Consequently, each Graduation Candidate (GC) entering Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy is required to check-in all such devices with the front desk upon entering the academy. Each device will be securely stored, and available to the GC at any time for use outside the academy.
School-issued technology used for educational purposes is exempt from this ban. A copy of the policy implementing the Department of Education mandate may be found here.

Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy is a SC Department of Education (SCDE) approved eLearning school. The current provision allows the district to use up to five (5) days in eLearning. When we would traditionally have to close due to inclement weather, students will be able to continue their lessons at home via eLearning. A make-up day will not be necessary, if the academy utilizes an eLearning Day for a short-term disruption.

We believe that a Graduation Candidate’s success is best supported through shared understanding and a strong partnership between the Academy, the GC, and their accountability partner(s). To foster that partnership, this Handbook outlines important policies, procedures, and expectations that help ensure a consistent, supportive, and safe learning environment for everyone in our school community.
