Is Bethel Acceleration Academies Right For You?

As a partner with Bethel School District, Bethel Acceleration Academies (BAA) is an approved online provider through the Washington Choice Transfer Program and Open Doors Program. Students do not have to live in Bethel School District in order to participate in the Bethel Acceleration Academies Online Program.
Eligibility:
- Be a Washington resident
- Ages 16-21. (On September 1st of the active school year, the applicant must be/ have been at least 16 but not yet 21.)
- Have not earned a high school diploma or equivalency diploma (GED)
- It is NOT required that you live in the Bethel School District. Franklin Pierce applicants must complete the Choice Transfer application and follow Virtual-First Program guidelines.
- Complete the Bethel Acceleration Academies application
- Be "released" by your current school district for the Washington Choice Transfer.
Expectations:
- You must work on your courses and complete at least 2 hours of coursework/assignments each week.
- Students are expected to complete each course in 2-4 weeks.
Requesting to Transfer to BAA
- A Choice Transfer request must be submitted when a student wants to attend a school outside of the school district where the student lives.
- The Choice Transfer Request Portal (CTRP) is used to process Choice Transfer requests.
- For a Choice Transfer, the school district in which the student lives (aka resident school district) must first release the student to start the transfer process. When you have completed your transfer application, your request will be sent to the resident school district for review.
- Follow the instructions on the CTRP site to begin the transfer process.

The In-Person Learning Program at BAA is for students who want some in-person instructional support combined with online instructional support. In this program, students receive a customized learning plan where they can complete coursework year-round. We provide an open and safe academy environment that is supportive and designed to help all students thrive. Our in-person flexible education program is designed to serve students ready to engage in their education to reach their goal of earning a high school diploma.
Eligibility:
- Ages 16-21. (On September 1st of the active school year, the applicant must be/ have been at least 16 but not yet 21.)
- Live in the Bethel School District
- Have not earned a high school diploma or equivalency diploma (GED)
- Complete the Bethel Acceleration Academies application
Expectations:
- In order to meet the state requirements for attendance, you must have at least 2 hours of total engagement each week.
- Your 2 hours of weekly engagement can include a combination of time making progress in your courses online or in the academy completing coursework.
- Students are expected to complete each course in 2-4 weeks.

Students graduate with a Bethel School District diploma. We hold several in-person graduation ceremonies per year so that our students and their families can celebrate their achievements. Students in the virtual program are welcome to join the graduation ceremonies.

In most cases, free public bus passes can be provided, but other options may be available. Talk to academy staff about transportation options during orientation.

There is no cost for either program in Bethel Acceleration Academies. For students learning in the academy, free snacks and drinks are provided in the academy café.
How We're Different
Bethel Acceleration Academies works in partnership with Bethel Schools to offer an alternative option for students who need more flexibility and support than what’s typically offered in traditional high schools. Each student receives a personalized learning plan with a flexible mix of online coursework, one-on-one coaching, and social-emotional support. We design it all to work with your work and family obligations.

Our model helps to provide students with a Career and Life Coach who works one-on-one with them to explore and select the right post-graduate career path. We prepare our graduates for internships, college, military service, skilled trades, well-paying jobs, and more! Students can also participate in relevant, hands-on, and engaging Career and Technical Education programs coordinated by their Career & Life coach. In these programs, students can earn industry certifications, gain real-world experience, and graduate confidently knowing their next steps toward a successful life.
